COMMUNITY FOOD AND FARM PROJECT

Sunfield has launched the Community Food and Farm Project thanks to a three year grant from the Community Food Projects Program of the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (grant number # 2005-33800-16454). This project will develop an organic farm, using biodynamic methods, to provide local youth with agricultural work experience, job-skills training, entrepreneurial skills and opportunities, and community leadership.

I first saw Greg Moore, Bainbridge radio host and video producter, on Saturday morning standing on the green roof of the Woodward Middle School set to record the stampede of the opening of the 46th annual Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island’s Auction and Rummage Sale. Large women in flip flops ran at their top speeds right after the singing of the National Anthem.

To describe the 46th annual Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island’s Auction and Rummage Sale as "big" just doesn’t cut it.

aybe "gigantic" comes close to telling about the event on July 1 that typically raises about $350,000 for the club’s projects near and afar.

Some 10 acres at Woodward Middle School will have lamps, cars, clothes, furniture, motors, outdoor equipment, dishes, art, you name it. (More)
